About Me

Hey Gang! I'm Jen, the voice behind the blog, the amateur photographer trying to hone some skills, and the official taste tester of all cocktails and dishes documented on my little corner of the online world. I started blogging in 2009, primarily because the photographs I wanted to post on social media outlets told only half the story, and I have a lot more to say about things. I've also always had the itch to write, starting and stopping a novel that I'm now far enough involved with to finish...someday.

I began Genuinely Speaking to ease my soul of the daily grind of Corporate America while confirming that I could string words together in a coherent, sometimes moving, sometimes funny fashion. It feels good to check the box on a smaller scale in regards to the behemoth task of writing a book.

I never imagined that I'd connect with old friends and distant relatives, not to mention complete strangers through this blog. After a few years I also started documenting our "Apéritif Fridays" - the kickoff to the weekend that equals relaxed celebration in our home. With busy teenager schedules we now find ourselves embracing the Apéritif Friday theme on Thursdays or Sundays or even Mondays; basically, any day of the week we are all home and gathering in the kitchen for libations and a family meal. In the Spring of 2015 I moved my food and drink obsession over to a new website, www.aperitiffriday.com.

Thanks for stopping by. If you have any questions, would like to connect or work together, please shoot me an email at jen@jenczupek.com.
